Filip Wolak
Photographer, commercial pilot, and flight instructor. Also a dreamer, a hopeless romantic, and—admittedly—a bit of a stubborn perfectionist.
My fascination with flight began early, but the true adventure started in the early 2000s, after moving from Poland to the United States. Since then, the sky has never stopped calling.
Today, I work as a professional photographer based in New York City and fly regularly—whether for work, exploration, or simply the joy of discovery. And, of course, for photography. There’s nothing more rewarding than blending your greatest passions and watching the results come to life.
In a past (and very lively) chapter, I was named “Coolest Nightlife Photographer” by Time Out New York and “Most Influential” by Lens Magazine for my series documenting New York City’s vibrant nightlife. What a ride that was!
My aerial photography has been recognized with several international awards, including:
- 2016 Sony World Photography Awards Winner (Open, Architecture)
- 2017 Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris Silver Award (Professional, Nature+Earth)
- 2017 Chromatic Photo Awards 1st Place (Professional, Cityscapes)
- 2018 Tokyo International Foto Awards 2nd Place (Nature), Gold (Nature+Aerial)
- 2020 WPE Annual Final First Place (Aerial/Drone)
- 2021 Lucie Foundation, The Guardian Project – Finalist (photo series)
- 2022 NY Photography Awards (Professional, Cityscapes)
and has been part of numerous exhibitions and solo shows.
But, enough of that. Go, see some photos.
